Summary:
Family Support Specialists (FSS) self-identify as being or having been the biological parent, adoptive parent, foster parent, or relative care giver with legal custody of a child or youth with a mental, emotional, behavioral, and/or co-occurring disorder.
The Family Support Specialist will work with individuals and families in services to provide hope, encouragement, support, self-determination, and connection to the community in compliance with the core values and principals of a System of Care model.
FSS will help plan and implement support and community-based activities for individuals in services and report progress or special problems to the System of Care Care Coordinator.
FSS must be a person with lived experience who has knowledge of navigating the child-serving system for a child or youth with mental, emotional, behavioral, and or co-occurring disorders and who has met the necessary criteria to be eligible to be a Certified Family Support Specialist.
Experience:
Education:
High School Diploma/GED required.
Licensure:
Valid driver's license Certification:
Within one year of hire, must obtain Certified Family Support Specialist (CFSS) certification from the Tennessee Dept.
of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services.
Experience:
Past/present utilization for a child of mental/behavioral health or substance use disorder services required.
Knowledge/Skills:
Verbal/written communication skills.
EQUIPMENT:
Computer, fax, GPS, copier, motor vehicle, and any other equipment required to perform the functions of the position.
MAJOR DUTIES AND
Responsibilities:
1.
Assist in implementing/creating a System of Care environment 2.
Maintain accurate record keeping as required by the State.
3.
Share progress and barriers with other staff providers, as applicable.
4.
Assist Care Coordinator in helping families acquire needed services.
5.
Organize and lead family support activities and groups.
6.
Attend and participate in regularly scheduled staff meetings, in-services and individual staffings as needed.
7.
Assist individuals in developing natural supports.
8.
Model personal responsibility, self-advocacy, and hopefulness by sharing learned experiences with individuals and families.
9.
All other duties as assigned.

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
