The successful applicant will serve as a LPN GI Scheduler in the Nursing Service. The Gastro/Hepatology LPN schedules appointments for patients having colonoscopies and/or endoscopies, along with other diagnostic procedures in the Endoscopy Suite and Gastro/Hepatology Clinic. The incumbent educates the pre-procedure patients on preparation for the procedure and what to expect during the procedure. A high level of knowledge regarding endoscopic procedures and the complications that may possibly occur during the procedure is needed. Appointments are to be made in a timely fashion and complying with the patient date request as much as feasible. He/she will be required to cross train in order to provide coverage when needed for other GI staff including other LPNs and Endoscopy Care Manager as well as other responsibilities as assigned by the Nurse Manager.
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 7:30am - 4:00pm

Promotion Potential: The selectee may be promoted to the full performance level without further competition when all regulatory, qualification, and performance requirements are met. Selection at a lower grade level does not guarantee promotion to the full performance level.
BASIC REQUIREMENTS:
Citizenship: Citizen of the United States.
Education: Graduate of a school of practical or vocational nursing approved by the appropriate State agency and/or accredited by the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC) at the time the program was completed by the applicant.
Licensure: Current, full, active, and unrestricted license to as a graduate licensed practical or vocational nurse in any State.
Physical standards: Must be physically and mentally able to perform efficiently the essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation, without hazard to themselves or others.
English language proficiency: Nurses appointed to direct patient-care positions must be proficient in spoken and written English as required by 38 USC 4105, 4114(f) and 5010(b).
GRADE DETERMINATIONS:
Applicants must meet regulatory qualification standards for a Licensed Practical Nurse as stated in VA Handbook 5005, Part II, and Appendix G13. In addition to the Basic Requirements, applicants must also meet Grade Requirements as indicated in the qualification standard. Although the Grade will be determined by a Professional Standards Board, the expected grade level for this position is GS-3. This qualification standard can be reviewed in Human Resources (Building 20), James H. Quillen VA Medical Center Mountain Home TN 37684.
GS-3: None beyond the basic requirements.
GS-4: Six months of qualifying experience as an LPN or LVN; or graduation from an approved school and one year of experience that involved nursing care work in a hospital, outpatient clinic, nursing home, or other supervised medical, nursing, or patient care facility that provided a practical knowledge of human body structure and sterile techniques and procedures; or graduation from an approved school of at least 24 months duration. LPNs at the GS-4 grade level perform all duties expected of employees at the GS-3 grade level; however, they are expected to exercise greater judgment, require less supervision, and to operate in accordance with all established policies, procedures and techniques.
GS-5: Completion of at least 1 year of qualifying experience at the GS-4 level or equivalent.
GS-6: Completion of at least 1 year of additional qualifying experience at the GS-5 level or equivalent, fully meeting all performance requirements for the GS-5 LPN/LVN.

Physical Requirements: The LPN must be able to perform work that requires regular and recurrent walking, bending, lifting 45 pounds or more, stooping, reaching, stretching, and similar activites supporting various weights. This also includes frequently pushing medication carts, wheelchairs, lifts, and beds. The incument must be able to care for Veterans with various medical and psychiatric issues. At times, these Veterans exhibit unpredictable behavior. He/she must be able to work closely with others, have sufficient hearing to respond to various alarms, and must be able to communicate verbal and in writing.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
