Program Support Assistant - Suicide Prevention Program

The incumbent performs their duties as a Program Support Assistant and primary point of contact for the dissemination of information to internal and external stakeholders, including VISN and VAMC staff, federal, state and community agencies and the general public regarding VHA's efforts to prevent Veteran suicide. The incumbent will be delegated responsibility and authority to oversee the communication plan for the initiative, and will facilitate planning, direction, and timely execution of policy, training, education, research and evaluation, and/or data and surveillance projects/programs pertaining to the prevention of Veteran suicide. With direction, the incumbent makes necessary revisions to long-range plans, goals and objectives for the suicide prevention communication directed towards the support of coalition building. Duties include but are not limited to:
Plays a key role in collecting, analyzing, tracking, organizing, and interpreting various data/ surveys/ questionnaires. Knowledge of the purpose, operation, methodology and techniques of Community Based intervention for Suicide Prevention is needed to perform these functions effectively. Enters, updates, and assists in analyzing data for CEPCs. Assist in assessing and tracking workflow of CEPCs and help adjust ensure adequate workload capture Helps to modify and resolve operational and systemic problems within Community Based Suicide Prevention more generally. This involves uncovering critical elements pertaining to the problem, analyzing these elements, and making recommendations to the CEPC regarding potential solutions to improve service delivery and operations. Creates complex databases for the CEPCs to include all SPC-SP interventions Assist with development of communication products Assist CEPC with Implementing VHA Community-Based Interventions for Suicide Prevention. Assist with development of community-based suicide prevention programs as defined and supported by the VHA Suicide Prevention Program; Assist with developing and coordinating graphics requirements, including databases, tables and spreadsheets to complement communications materials. Assist in developing suicide prevention related media/marketing, social media postings, and communication campaigns (Paid/PSAs); Takes minutes during meetings with prospective and existing community stakeholder(s) focused on Veteran suicide prevention Assists CEPCs with travel arrangements Performs other related duties as assigned as it relates to SPC-SP Work Schedule:

Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-07 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-06. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. Specialized
Experience:
You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-07 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to:
knowledge of the principles and practices of health services research; assisting with the day-to-day activities of a research program; enrolling and interviewing study participants, including obtaining informed consent; collecting and compiling data; preparing correspondence and reports; utilizing automated software (such as Microsoft Word, Excel, etc.); and maintaining research study records. A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment.
