Lead Police Officer

Distribute and delegate shift work assignments;. responsible for leading the technical work of at least three or more Police Officers and two Dispatchers. Instructs employees in specific tasks and job techniques; provides on-the-job training to new employees; maintains a current knowledge on procedures, policies, directives, and obtains needed information or decisions from supervisors on problems that may arise. Resolves simple complaints and refers others to supervisory personnel. Reports to supervisors on employee performance, progress, training needs. Coordinates for short-term leave; recommends performance rating and disciplinary actions when appropriate. Patrols medical center grounds, and associated Community Based Out-Patient Clinics. Enforces all federal, state, and local criminal, traffic, and motor vehicle laws and regulations. Pursues, apprehends, and arrests persons committing criminal offenses. Work Schedule:

Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-07 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-06. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. Specialized
Experience:
You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-06 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to:
through service as a military police officer; in work providing visitor protection and law enforcement in parks, forests, or other natural resource or recreational environments; in performing criminal investigative duties; or in other work that provided the required knowledge and skills. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to:
knowledge of criminal laws and Federal statutes as it relates to public safety and protection of property, traffic laws and issuance of citations, delegating and assigning workload; providing leadership, training, use of weaponry, force methodology, crime prevention, recordkeeping and other duties as assigned. You will be rated on the following Competencies for this position:

Physical Requirements:
The work requires, on a regular and recurring basis, considerable and strenuous physical exertion such as frequent climbing of multiple flights of stairs, lifting heavy, objects over 50 pounds, crouching or crouching or crawling in restrictive areas during search or pursuit activities, or defending oneself or other against physical attack. Work Environment:
The work environment regularly involves high risk with exposure to potentially dangerous situation or unusual environmental stress which stress which requires a range of safety and other precautions (eg subject to possible physical attack or crowd conditions or similar situation where conditions cannot be controlled) This level includes work in areas where the public has easy access and officers must patrol in locations where persons may be armed while attempting auto theft, vandalism, narcotics transactions, and other offenses which can lead to assault with or without a weapon in order to avoid arrest. The work is performed in settings in which there is regular and recurring exposure to moderate discomforts and unpleasantness, such as high levels of noise in industrial settings, high temperatures in confined spaces, or severe weather conditions during extended periods of traffic and patrol duties. The employee may be required to use protective clothing or gear such as mask, gowns, coats, boots, goggles, gloves, bullet resistant vests or shields. The work involves moderate to high risk requiring exercise of safety precautions when working around hazardous materials such as toxic gases, explosives, infectious biological materials and others that pose a moderate risk of exposure. The work also involves moderate risk and discomfort when working outdoors without shelter or operating vehicles for extended periods of time over rough terrain. The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
