Nursing Assistant- Monitor Technician

The incumbent is assigned to provide telemetry monitoring for an adult/geriatric Veteran patient population in a Telemetry Monitoring Station. The incumbent will also provide comprehensive nursing care as a nursing assistant. The incumbent will provide care and monitoring for patients during the day, evening and night tours of duty. Proper lead placement Ability to recognize fatal and life-threatening heart rhythms Verifies alarm settings are within parameters Ability to provide verbal report on telemetry status of patient to clinical staff Document vital signs Performs personal hygiene to patients (including showers or bed baths) Assists with normal bladder and bowel elimination Ambulates patients Answers telephone in absence of other personnel Answers patient call system and notifies appropriate nursing staff Accurately documents measurements in clinical record Participates in patient care conferences Utilizes printed and electronic files containing sensitive information Provides input into unit goals and staff development. Experience:
2-3 years' experience as a Nursing Assistant in at least a Med/Surg setting Work in a Cardiology setting or with Cardiology patients Grade Determinations:
GS-5 Nursing Assistant (Full Performance Level)Experience. One year of progressively responsible assignments and experience equivalent to the GS-4 level (One year of specialized experience as a NA or experience in another medical field (licensed practical nurse, health technician, hospital corpsman, etc.), performing technical and nursing skills requiring knowledge of the human physical and emotional states, therapeutic communication, and technical skills required for the basic and intermediate treatments) which demonstrates knowledge, skills, and abilities that are directly related to the specific assignment. In addition, the candidate must demonstrate the professional KSAs in subparagraph (c) below; OR, Education. Successful completion of a 4-year course of study above high school leading to a bachelor's degree that included 24 semester hours of courses related to health care or possession of a bachelor's degree. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
