Major duties include but not limited to:
Types and formats memoranda, correspondence and other documents utilizing software such as Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Power Point, and Microsoft Outlook Transcribes dictation and written material in draft and final form including reports, proposals, and memoranda, which contains significant medical terminology Composes memoranda and required reports involving many diverse issues Assists in the preparation of numerous survey processes Assists in organizing the staff and supervisors meetings, Veterans Integrated Service Network meetings, and staff education/training meetings Ensures commitments made at the meetings are met and keeps the Administrative Officer informed of the status of these commitments Responsible for the flow of correspondence to and from the administration office Assures the format of all outgoing typed materials from the administration office in accordance with VA regulations Organizes the flow of clerical processes in the office and subordinate offices and assists supervisor's subordinates in the procedural aspects to expedite administrative work Work Schedule:

Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-6 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-5. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. Note:

Specialized
Experience:
You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-5 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to:
Utilizing a variety of office automation software; Scheduling appointments; Screening calls and visitors; Reviewing incoming correspondence, Composing responses to non-technical requests; Transcribing and distributing meeting minutes; Maintaining records; Managing daily office flow; Application of proper grammar, punctuation, and spelling; Providing customer service in person or by telephone; Maintaining calendar and meetings; Arranging meetings; Resolving scheduling conflicts. Education:
As a general rule, education is not creditable above GS-5 for most positions covered by this standard; however, graduate education may be credited in those few instances where the graduate education is directly related to the work of the position. (Copy of Education Transcripts is Required) Typing Requirement:
This position requires the skills of a qualified typist. In addition to meeting the experience and/or education requirements, you must be able to type at least 40 words per minute. (Words per minute are based on a five minute sample with three or fewer errors.) You will be rated on the following Competencies for this position:

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
