A staff podiatrist/podiatric surgeon routinely performs outpatient and inpatient podiatric examinations, determines diagnoses, and initiates treatments based on podiatric education, licensing, and standard of care. The staff Podiatrist serves as a consultant to other medical center staff and trainees. (S)he will train/supervise podiatry/medical students, podiatry /medical residents, and midlevel providers. The ABPS BC/BE, full-time Podiatrist is responsible for initial evaluation and overall workups, and admission of podiatry/podiatric surgical patients as needed. Clinical duties include but are not limited to operating room (experience in wide variety of standard podiatric surgeries), inpatient rounds, daily clinic sessions, and supervision of students and residents in each setting. The Podiatric Surgeon will be proficient in a wide variety of podiatric surgical procedures including basic podiatric surgery, limb salvage, forefoot, midfoot, and ankle procedures, trauma management (calcaneal, ankle, fractures, etc.), and arthroscopy. The Podiatrist will also take an active role in the supervision and training of podiatry students and Residents in our 36-month Podiatric Medicine and Surgery Residency (PMSR/ RRA) as directed by the Director of Podiatric Medical Education. The Podiatrist will be required to participate in all surgical quality/performance improvement initiatives as appropriate, actively participate in committee assignments, and attend monthly Surgery Department meetings. The Podiatrist will be responsible for providing patients with education concerning their pathologies and expected treatment regimen. They will be responsible for appropriate pre-operative risk assessment either primarily or in conjunction with house staff, midlevel, and Medical staff as appropriate. The Podiatrist will examine, diagnose, and medically and surgically treat disorders, diseases, deformities or injuries of the foot and ankle. The Podiatrist must be competent in foot, rearfoot, and ankle surgery. The Podiatrist will provide care of diabetic patients' feet as directed by VA policy, provide pre-operative evaluations to include but not limited to providing risks, benefits, alternative treatments and obtaining informed consent. The Podiatrist will also be required to have an active license in the U.S. The Podiatrist will keep up his/her CME requirements in order to maintain his/her license and specialized certification. He/she will also be responsible for understanding the Medical Bylaws of this facility. Travel to the Community Based Outpatient Clinics may be required and the incumbent will be required to cover on-call attending responsibilities. Work Schedule:

Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy. Degree of doctor of podiatry or an equivalent degree resulting from a school of podiatric medicine approved by the Secretary of Veteran Affairs. Approved schools are United States schools of podiatric medicine approved by the Council on Podiatry Education of the American Podiatry Association in the year in which the degree was granted Licensed to practice podiatry in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia. Podiatrists are required to possess full and unrestricted licensure and to maintain a current registration in their State of licensure if this is a requirement of the particular State. The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
