Domiciliary Assistant

The incumbent functions as a member of the multidisciplinary treatment team(s) assigned to Domiciliary and serves as a liaison for up to 60 assigned Veteran residents with responsibility for having specific knowledge of the resident's needs, his/her treatment plan and progress being made by the resident and staff toward the objectives of the Treatment Plan. Some duties include but are not limited to:
Responsible for the safe and therapeutic environment of the area of assigned coverage; Maintains control records consistent with case liaison functions for Veteran Residents and participates in treatment planning each week; Counsels with Veteran residents documenting in the resident's medical record, shift reports and incident sheets any pertinent data and information about the resident's health, behavior, functioning and self-report information having relevance to the resident's treatment objectives, well-being and safety; Facilitates participation for residents in recreation, work therapy and other therapeutic activities; Initiates, organizes and participates in various activities pertaining to the resident treatment and administrative functioning of Treatment Team(s) to which assigned; Responsible for resident/team scheduling and insuring appropriate follow-up on Treatment Plans are accomplished both effectively and in a timely manner; Responsible for preparing documents and coordinating problems to insure resolution is appropriate and handled in a timely manner; Provides Basic Life Support, First Aid, behavioral and crisis intervention to Veterans in distress as emergency responders; Responsible for documenting activities and occurrences in treatment record or communication sheets for each Veteran in a timely manner; Responsible for working with professional and administrative personnel, i.e., physicians, psychologists, social workers, nurses, MAAs, safety manager, police, etc., for consultations with staff on other multidisciplinary treatment teams and other facility personnel to monitor progress of residents, including Incentive Therapy assignments of their established treatment objectives; Responsible for documenting in the treatment record or communication sheets resident's progress on assigned Incentive Therapy assignments or any health issues that may have occurred during the incumbent's tour of duty. Incumbent responsible for helping residents receive clothing or other personal articles and properly documenting according to program guidelines; Responsible for orienting Veteran residents, interpreting policy and providing counseling to them, documenting appropriately, on matters relating to roles, rights and responsibilities, including violations of rules, regulations, policies and procedures established by the Department of Veterans Affairs and this facility to enforce guidance and disciplinary actions and reinforce treatment incentives. Prepares reports and completes special studies of activities as assigned by the supervisory staff of Domiciliary Care; Provides information to families, friends, relatives and others about the resident only within the limitations of the Privacy Act and HIPPA and with the resident's consent and as part of the treatment team; Responsible for performing various Domiciliary Care Programs with administrative tasks such as timekeeping, organization of documents, recruitment, orientation, training, supervision, evaluation and record keeping of residents working Incentive Therapy positions in Domiciliary Living Units. Candidates may be advanced without time restrictions to positions up to GS-5 if the position to be filled is no more than two grades above the lowest grade the employee held within the preceding 52 weeks under his or her latest non-temporary competitive appointment. Specialized
Experience:
You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade (GS-4) in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience include maintaining a safe and therapeutic environment, conducting resident rounds, checks and inspections, providing guidance and counseling of program rules, providing customer service, documenting various reports and keeping computerized records. OR, Education:
Applicants may substitute education for the required experience. To qualify based on education for this grade level you must have completed 4-years of education beyond high school. OR, Combination:
Applicants may also combine education and experience to qualify at this level. To calculate, first determine the amount of specialized experience you possess as a percentage of the requirement. Then, calculate the amount of qualifying education you possess as a percentage of the requirement Please note, only education in excess of 60 semester hours is qualifying for this calculation . Add the two percentages. If the sum is greater than 100, you may use this combination of experience and education to qualify under the specialized experience requirement. You will be rated on the following Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Other characteristics (KSAOs) based on your application for this position. Ability to identify resident needs and respond to requests for services. Knowledge of ensuring welfare and security of Domiciliary residents Skill in documenting safety and customer care events and findings. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religions; spiritual; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Note:
A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment. Physical Requirements:
Work related to equipment and supply ordering, management and inventory requires bending, lifting, stooping, stretching or other similar activities. The work requires moving and transporting of equipment, supplies, and similar items (No more than 10 lbs. lifting will include files, reams of paper, folders, notebooks etc). The work requires recurring exposure to hand-washing. The work also includes duties performed in a clerical environment.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
